Best Buy Mitutoyo 500-784 Digital Caliper, IP67, LCD, Solar Powered, 0-6"/0-150mm Range, +/-0.001" Accuracy, 0.0005"/0.01mm Resolution Store
The Mitutoyo 500-784 is one of Mitutoyo’s Series 500 MyCal Solar Absolute Digimatic Calipers and measures 0” to 6” or 0 to 150 mm with +/- 0.001” or +/- 0.010 mm accuracy. It is made of durable hardened stainless steel and uses Mitutoyo’s ABSOLUTE linear encoder technology. Coolant-proof, it meets IP 67 standards with a dust-tight, waterproof, oil-proof, and damage-resistant construction. Its hard-coated solar panels protect the solar cells storing energy for operation. Through solar power, you can measure in any location (even low-lit areas) without the need to replace batteries.
This digital solar caliper has .295-inch/7.4-mm LCD characters with a five-digit display and easy-to-reach function control buttons, such as Inch/Metric to convert from inch to metric measurements and On/Off to automatically shut off the caliper after 30 minutes. Its solar battery retains its origin point for life (even after the caliper has remained in complete darkness), without requiring the caliper to zero-set its LCD display due to low light intensity.
Although identical to dial and vernier calipers in its ability to make precise measurements, this digital solar caliper also has the LCD, which clearly shows values and increases reading reliability over the other types. The 500-784’s LCD also reflects all ABSOLUTE system activities. The Absolute Scale (ABS) function tracks the origin point—even after shutoff. In environments with available light of 60 Lux or more, the caliper becomes active and you can immediately start measuring, without zero resetting or worrying about overspeed errors. You can make and compare incremental measurements without having to subtract the first measurement from the second.
The 500-784 is IP67 rated for dust, water, and oil protection. It has the ABSOLUTE electromagnetic induction linear encoder and hard-coated solar panels, for increased durability in storing energy in solar cells for safe operation. It weighs approximately 1 lb (453 g) and measures outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID), depth, and step, where the butt end of the fixed jaw measures one end of a work piece before its upper/lower or inner/outer "steps" are measured. Outside Jaw Depth is 1.57”/ 39.87 mm, Inside Jaw Depth is .65”/16.51 mm, Upper Jaw Length is 1.57”/ 39.87 mm, and Lower Jaw Length is 1.57”/ 39.87 mm. Range is 0 to 6"/0 to 150 mm, LCD Resolution is .0005"/0.01 mm, Repeatability is .0005"/0.01 mm, and Accuracy is rated + or - 0.0001"/0.02 mm. Also included are inch/metric and on/off automatic shutoff function buttons. A Digital LCD Data Reading Hold function is available with the optional Data Hold Unit (959143), sold separately. An alarm alerts the user to low voltage and scale contamination and counting value composition errors. A rolling thumb wheel makes fine adjustments and a thumb screw locks the scale’s position. Response speed is unlimited. The caliper has no SPC (Statistical Process Control) output capability. The built-in solar cells can store energy for up to three hours of caliper operation. The caliper can be used continuously above 60 Lux (or luminous fLux) ambient illumination.
Calipers measure the distance between two opposing sides of an object. They make inside, outside, depth, or step measurements, according to their type. Calipers are commonly used in architecture, metalworking, mechanical engineering, machining, manufacturing, carpentry, and medicine. The simplest calipers have two legs to mark the two points and require a ruler to take the measurement. More complex calipers use two sets of jaws instead of legs and have up to two graduated scales. Vernier, dial, and digital calipers all give direct and accurate readings and are functionally identical, having a calibrated scale with a fixed jaw and another jaw with a movable pointer that slides along the scale. The vernier caliper has a scale sliding parallel to the main scale for an additional, fractional reading to improve measurement precision. The dial caliper has a circular dial with a pointer on a toothed gear rack replacing the second vernier scale. As with the vernier, this second measurement is added to the reading from the main scale to obtain the result. The dial caliper is used also for measuring size differential between two objects. The digital caliper takes the same sort of differential measurements as the dial caliper by zeroing the display at any point along the slide, with an LCD (replacing the dial) that displays a single, easily read value in both English and metric units. Some digital calipers can hold data readings between measurements and send them to data collection devices.

- Hardened stainless steel construction, for protection of caliper components
- Four-way measurement capability, for outside (OD), inside (ID), depth, and step measurements
- Titanium nitride (TiN) coating on beam surfaces, for wear reduction
- Inch system of measurement, for measuring speed in specific applications
The Mitutoyo 505-675-56 dial caliper measures 0” to 6” with +/- 0.001” accuracy necessary for applications requiring high levels of accuracy, such as in scientific research and in industries where parts must fit exactly. The dial caliper is a refinement of the vernier caliper. Like the vernier scale, the dial’s measurement gives the final fraction of the total measurement to obtain a highly accurate result. Instead of using a vernier scale, this caliper uses a dial mechanism to read this final fraction. This dial caliper takes inside, outside, depth, and centering readings.
The dial caliper has a fixed (main) scale and a movable dial, unlike the vernier caliper which has a second, movable vernier scale. This dial is circular and has a pointer; it is mounted on a toothed gear track which drives the pointer. As the dial moves over the main scale rule, the pointer typically rotates once every inch or tenth of an inch (the least count division) to give the additional fractional reading. The second measurement is added to the main scale reading to obtain an accurate result. The minimum measurement (least count division) of the dial creates the accuracy of that result. The main scale may be marked in inches, millimeters, or both. The dial is marked in inches or millimeters. The dial can be rotated beneath the pointer to measure size differential between two objects. A thumbwheel permits fast measuring and a rotating screw controls the caliper’s movement. The dial caliper is easier to read than the vernier caliper, thus safeguarding against reading errors. Its standard of precise measurement complements the use of the vernier caliper; the dial provides an ease in reading and interpolating measurements which most vernier calipers, due to their need for direct observation of both scales, may not provide.
The 505-675-56 has a dial with a black face and measures in inches. It has a Least Count of 0.001"/0.025 mm, the most precise measurement possible. One revolution of the dial indicator needle equals one-tenth inch on the main scale. The dial uses a rack-and-pinion mechanism and is mounted on a gear track where each tooth equals 0.025" or one quarter of the dial resolution, and four teeth equal 0.100". The main scale is graduated in 0.100” increments, and the dial is graduated from 0.001" up to one-hundred-thousandths of an inch. The dial has smooth movement and gear train shock protection. A thumbwheel permits fast and easy measuring. A clamping screw controls scale movement and a dial calibration lock holds the sliding jaw’s position. The caliper weighs approximately 1 lb (454 g) and is made of hardened stainless steel construction. The titanium nitride (TiN) coating on the beam wear surface helps extend caliper life. With its fixed and movable jaws, it has four-way measurement capability: outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID), depth, and step, where the butt end of the fixed jaw measures one end of a work piece before its upper/lower or inner/outer "steps" are measured. It has a Main Slide Length of 9.1"/229 mm, a Dial Length of 2.25"/57.15 mm, a Dial Height of 1.5"/38.1 mm, an Upper Jaw Length of 1.57"/39.87800 mm, a Lower Jaw Length of 1.57"/39.87800 mm, an Inside Jaw Depth of 10.6"/269.24 mm, a Jaw Thickness of 0.35"/8.89 mm, and a Depth Measuring Blade Length of 0.63"/16.0 mm. Jaws are lapped to increase accuracy. Range is 0 to 6"/0-150 mm, Range per Revolution is 0.100", Resolution (Length) is 0.001000"/0.0254 mm, and Accuracy is rated at + or - 0.001"/0.0254 mm, which meets Federal Accuracy Specifications GGG-C-111B.

Vernier, dial, and digital calipers all give direct and accurate readings and are functionally identical, having a calibrated scale with a fixed jaw, and another jaw with a movable pointer that slides along the scale. The dial caliper is used for measuring size differential between two objects, as well. The digital caliper takes the same sort of differential measurements as the dial caliper by zeroing the display at any point along the slide, with an LCD (replacing the dial) that displays a single, easily read value in both English and metric units. Some digital calipers can hold data readings between measurements and send them to data collection devices.

Save On Mitutoyo 522-602 Parallax Free Vernier Caliper, High Accuracy Model, Inch/Metric, 0-6"/0-150mm Range, +/-0.03mm Accuracy, 0.001"/0.02mm Graduation Online Store
The Mitutoyo 522-602 Diamond Master vernier caliper performs precise measurements up to 0.02 mm, for applications requiring high levels of accuracy, especially in scientific research and in industries where parts must fit exactly. This parallax-free caliper takes inside, outside, depth, and centering readings.
The vernier caliper has a fixed (main) scale and a movable (vernier) scale. The vernier scale moves over the main scale rule to give a fractional measurement which is added to the measurement of the main scale to achieve a more accurate result. The main scale may be marked in inches, millimeters, or both. The vernier scale may be marked in inches or millimeters. The Mitutoyo 522-602 has a dual vernier scale, with both inch and metric measurements, on the upper and lower edges, respectively. The dual scale enables this caliper to measure a greater diversity of item types. A thumbwheel permits fast measuring, and a rotating screw controls the caliper’s movement. To avoid parallax errors, Mitutoyo 522-601 has Diamond Master octagonal flush-fitting scale faces.
The Mitutoyo 522-602 has a dual vernier scale, with an upper scale measuring in inches and a lower scale measuring in millimeters. The vernier graduation of the upper scale is 0.001"; the vernier reading of the lower scale is 0.02 mm. The main scale is octagonal in cross-section; it is flush-fitted with the vernier scale to eliminate parallax errors. The scales are raised to slide easily and protect the graduation markings. A thumbwheel permits fast and easy measuring. A clamping screw, located below the slider, rotates to control scale movement and locks to hold the sliding jaw’s position. The caliper is made of hardened stainless steel construction with a satin chrome finish. With its fixed and movable jaws, it has four-way measurement capability: outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID), depth, and step, where the butt end of the fixed jaw measures one end of a work piece before its upper/lower or inner/outer "steps" are measured. It has a main scale length of 9.02", a combined upper and lower jaw length of 3.05", an upper jaw depth of 0.67", a lower jaw depth of 1.60", a vernier scale length of 2.11", a beam width of 0.59", a jaw thickness of 0.138", and a depth bar. - Position memory, for retaining measurements
- Function control buttons on the face, for ease of use: Inch/Metric, Origin, On/Off, and Zero/ABS (Absolute Scale)
The Mitutoyo 500-196-20 ABSOLUTE 500 series digital caliper is one of Mitutoyo’s original MyCal Ez Digimatic digital calipers. It gives an absolute reading from zero rather than the last at-rest position. It is made of durable hardened stainless steel to shield its components and for use anywhere in the workshop. It uses Mitutoyo’s ABSOLUTE linear encoder technology, which allows you to “set and forget” the origin and measure in awkward or difficult locations.
This digital caliper has .295-inch/7.5-mm LCD characters and easy-to-reach function control buttons, such as Inch/Metric to convert measurements, Origin to set and retain the original measuring point, On/Off to automatically shut off the caliper after 30 minutes, and Zero/ABS (Absolute Scale) to zero-set the LCD display.
Although identical to dial and vernier calipers in its ability to make precise measurements, the digital caliper also has the LCD, which clearly shows values and increases reading reliability over the other types. The 500-196-20’s LCD also reflects all ABSOLUTE system activities. The Absolute Scale (ABS) function tracks the origin point you set—even after shutoff. With the caliper on again, you can immediately start measuring, without zero resetting or worrying about overspeed errors. You can "zero out" the LCD before making and comparing incremental measurements without having to subtract the first measurement from the second.
The 500-196-20 has the ABSOLUTE electrostatic capacitance linear encoder. It weighs approximately 1 lb (453 g) and has four-way measurement capability: outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID), depth, and step, where the butt end of the fixed jaw measures one end of a work piece before its upper/lower or inner/outer "steps" are measured. Jaw depth is 1.60”, Range is 0 to 6"/150 mm, LCD Resolution is .0005"/.01 mm, Repeatability is .0005"/.01 mm, and Accuracy is rated + or - .001"/.02 mm. Also included are origin-setting, zero-setting, inch-to-metric conversion, and on/off automatic shutoff function buttons. The caliper has no SPC (Statistical Process Control) output; it draws 1/4 the battery power when switched on and about 1/8 the battery power when switched off compared to other digital calipers. The SR44 silver oxide cell battery (938882) lasts for approximately 20,000 hours (3.5 years) of continual normal use and is recommended to maintain constant voltage levels.
A digital caliper is a measuring instrument commonly used for inspection in manufacturing. It has two pairs of jaws on one end attached to a long beam with a marked scale. It takes and displays measurements in both English and Metric units with high-resolution and gearless precision. It comes from the basic caliper, a device used to measure the distance between two opposing sides of an object. The digital caliper allows for the same sort of differential measurements as the dial caliper by zeroing the display at any point along the slide. However, its LCD has replaced the analog dial of the dial caliper with an electronic digital display of the measurement reading as an easily read single value. A digital caliper is commonly used in fields such as metalworking, mechanical engineering, machining, carpentry, and medicine.

The Mitutoyo 505-717 dial caliper measures 0” to 6” with +/- 0.001” accuracy, necessary for applications requiring the highest accuracy, such as in scientific research and other industries where parts must fit exactly. The dial caliper is a refinement of the vernier caliper. Like the vernier scale, the dial’s measurement gives the final fraction of the total measurement to obtain a result with the highest accuracy.
The 505-717 has a dial with a white face; the dial measures in inches. It has a Least Count of 0.001"/0.025 mm, the most precise measurement possible. One revolution of the dial indicator needle equals one-tenth inch on the main scale. The dial uses a rack-and-pinion mechanism and is mounted on a gear track where each tooth equals .025 inch or one quarter of the dial resolution, and four teeth equal 0.100 inch. The main scale is graduated in 0.100 inch increments, and the dial is graduated from 0.001 inch up to one-hundred-thousandths of an inch. It has a Main Slide Length of 9.1"/229 mm, a Dial Length of 2.25"/57.15 mm, a Dial Height of 1.5"/38.1 mm, an Upper Jaw Length of 1.570"/39.87800 mm, a Lower Jaw Length of 1.570"/39.87800 mm, an Inside Jaw Depth of 10.6"/269.24 mm, a Jaw Thickness of 0.35"/8.89 mm, and a Depth Measuring Blade Length of 0.63"/16.0 mm. Jaws are lapped to increase accuracy. Range is 0 to 6"/0-150 mm, Range per Revolution is 0.200", Resolution (Length) is 0.001000"/0.0254 mm, and Accuracy is rated at + or - 0.001"/0.0254 mm, which meets Federal Accuracy Specifications GGG-C-111B.
Vernier, dial, and digital calipers all give direct and accurate readings and are functionally identical, having a calibrated scale with a fixed jaw, and another jaw with a movable pointer that slides along the scale.
